Grade II winner Ventana will stand the 2013 breeding season at Indiana Stallion Station near Anderson, Ind. His fee will be $2,500. Mike Pegram, who raced Ventana in partnership, remains a part owner.
A 6-year-old son of Toccet , Ventana won the Potrero Grande Handicap (gr. II) and the Maryland Sprint Handicap (gr. III) and placed in five stakes, four of which were graded. He was retired with a record of 4-4-4 from 21 starts and earnings of $383,106.
A half brother to stakes winner Miss Challenge, Ventana is out of the winning Polish Numbers mare Full Figure, a half sister to stakes winners Harriman and Dixie Accent. Champion Lord Avie and grade I winner Stephen Got Even appear under Ventana's third dam, Avie.
Ventana stood last breeding season at Gayle Gerth's Dana Point Farm near Lenhartsville, Pa.
