Mike Newlin, general manager of Meadowlands in New Jersey, has left to take a job as general manager of the Penn National Gaming Inc.-owned Sanford-Orlando Kennel Club in central Florida.

PNGI made the announcement Sept. 21. Newlin replaces Vic Harrison, who has taken a job as senior director of sales for United Tote.

Meadowlands operator Jeff Gural said he has launched a search for a replacement. Newlin was hired last fall after Gural obtained a lease of Meadowlands from the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority.

"This was a unique opportunity that allowed me to both return to Florida and join a great organization like Penn National Gaming," Newlin said in a release.

He previously worked in Florida at Palm Beach Kennel Club and the Jacksonville Racing Circuit of Greyhound tracks.

Gural said Rob Fitzpatrick, chief financial officer at New Meadowlands, will act as interim general manager. The track will offer several all-turf programs of Thoroughbred racing this fall before harness racing returns early next year.
