Gold Mover Breezes Toward Chaposa Springs

Edward Evans' homebred Gold Mover, one of 12 horses nominated to the Dec. 29 Chaposa Springs Handicap (gr. III) at Calder Race Course, worked four furlongs at that track Sunday. The 3-year-old daughter of Gold Fever completed the distance in :51 3/5 while breezing on the fast main track.

Gold Mover has won seven of 15 starts for trainer Mark Hennig and has one win and a second from two starts at the Chaposa Springs distance of seven furlongs. She won the seven-furlong Forward Gal (gr. III) at Gulfstream Park in January and finished second in the Duchess (Can-III) at Woodbine in August while returning from a three-month layoff. She'll be returning from a similar layoff in the Chaposa Springs.

Also at Calder Sunday morning, Chaposa Springs nominee Miss Inquisitive went five furlongs in 1:02, handily.

Others nominated to the Chaposa Springs are: Bay Street Gal; Coolbythepool; Crimson Native; Fly Me Crazy; Platinum Tiara; Rich Peace; Sugar N Spice; Tugger; Vague Memory; and Valid Forbes.

The Chaposa Springs is one of four stakes on Calder's Grand Slam II program.
