Jockey Mario Pino moved into sole possession of 10th place on the all-time win list with a victory aboard Incredibly Smart in the second race Sept. 18 at Presque Isle Downs. The win was number 6,471 for Pino, one more than Hall of Famer Earlie Fires.

A 3-year-old son of Smarty Jones   bred in Kentucky by Cobra Farm, Incredibly Smart is trained by Jeff Thornbury for Cobra and Gail P. and Kenneth G. Betz. In winning the $43,000 allowance test, the colt raced 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:04.17 over the Tapeta all-weather track.

A native of West Grove, Pa., Pino is a regular on the Maryland circuit. His mounts have earned more than $2 million this year. Pino, 51, rode his first winner Jan. 16, 1978, with Ed's Desire at the now shuttered Bowie Racecourse. Among the top horses he has ridden have been Hard Spun  , second in the 2007 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I), and grade I winners Diabolical   and Wildcat Bettie B.
