A daughter of Yankee Gentleman   brought $70,000 to top Equine Sales of Louisiana’s inaugural yearling auction, which was held Sept. 5 in Opelousas, La. Set-Hut purchased the dark bay or brown filly from Thomas Farm.

Produced from the winning Six Speed mare Satin Shoes, the yearling is a half sister to Flashy Wise Cat (by Catastrophe), who captured the 2009 and 2010 editions of the Louisiana Champions Day Sprint Stakes at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots. The sale topper also is a half sister to Suitefriendsofmine (by Richter Scale), who won this year’s John Franks Memorial Sales Stakes at Evangeline Downs.

The results for the auction included a gross of $1,285,000 for the 157 yearlings that were sold. The average price was $8,185 and the median price was $4,200. The buy-back rate was 40.5%.
