Idaho jockey Robert Webb earned the 1,000th victory of his career aboard Thirteengoldhearts in the eighth race Sept. 15 at Sandy Downs in Idaho Falls.

Webb, 46, a native of Pueblo, Colo., began riding in 1981 and recorded his first Thoroughbred win the following year. According to Equibase, he has had 7,606 career starts with total earnings of $2,469,012.

He has been a top rider in the Northwest at tracks such as Grants Pass and Portland Meadows in Oregon. Webb had semi-retired from racing in 2008 to break and train Quarter Horses for ranch owner Larry Chappel, but returned to active riding in 2011.

The milestone win with Thirteengoldhearts came in a $1,600 allowance event at five furlongs. Thirteengoldhearts, a 6-year-old Washington-bred daughter of Liberty Gold owned and trained by Kash Evans, was timed in :58 4/5 on a fast track, two ticks off the track record.
