Zippy Chippy, the 9-year-old gelding who holds the record for futility with no wins from 86 career starts, will take on a minor-league baseball player in his next race. According to the Associated Press, the horse who has been banned from running at Finger lakes in upstate New York will run in a 40-yard dash against Jose Herrera, center fielder for the Rochester (N.Y.) Red Wings.
The "2000 Red Wings Derby" will be held Thursday prior to the Red Wings' home game against Scranton/Wilkes Barre. Herrera has stolen 155 bases during his 10-year professional baseball career.
