Sportech Racing said Sept. 12 it has signed a three-year extension of the totalizator services agreement it has with all racetracks, racing fairs, and off-track betting networks in California.

Sportech has provided wagering technologies and services to the California horse racing industry for two decades. During the term of the current agreement, Sportech developed the Quantum Data Center, a facility located in Sacramento; upgraded the California wagering system to the latest Quantum system; replaced all wagering terminals in California with the new BetJet Series terminals; and provided new display boards.

Sportech also has implemented an ontrack mobile wagering solution at Del Mar and at Santa Anita Park, and has worked with Southern California Off-Track Wagering Inc. to develop offtrack betting venues known as mini-satellites in card clubs, sports bars, and restaurants.

"Sportech is very happy to have extended this important business relationship with the California horse racing industry," said David Haslett, managing director of Sportech Racing. "We look forward to supporting a successful Breeders' Cup at Santa Anita Park in 2012 and 2013, and will continue to work with the industry to develop mini-satellite wagering facilities throughout California to expand distribution and make betting on horse racing widely available to many more new and current fans."

Sportech, formerly Autotote, has operations in North, Central, and South America; Europe; Australia; and Asia. The company also owns and operates Winners, a network of 15 betting and sports bar venues and an advance deposit wagering phone service under an exclusive license for pari-mutuel wagering in Connecticut.
