Hip 94 by War Front out of Gold Vault, sold for $1,050,000 at the Keeneland September Sale.

A half brother to multiple grade I winner Contested was sold for $1,050,000 during the Sept. 10 Keeneland September yearling sale. He is the third horse to bring a bid of seven figures during the auction's opening session in Lexington.

Consigned by Claiborne Farm, the War Front   colt was purchased by Jane B. Dunn, representing a group that includes Adele B. Dilschneider. Dilschneider has been a longtime Claiborne client and has partnered with the historic Paris, Ky., farm in numerous top horses, including 2010 champion older male Blame  .

The colt, bred in Kentucky by Cherry Valley Farm, was produced from the Arch   mare Gold Vault. On Aug. 25, Contested (by Ghostzapper  ) posted her fifth victory from seven starts when she won the Test Stakes (gr. I) at Saratoga Race Course. She previously had won the Acorn Stakes (gr. I) and has earned $633,754.
