'Night School' Sets First Town Hall Meeting

The "Night School" online fan education program will offer its first industry town hall meeting Sept. 11 evening, organizers said.

More than 12 industry executives and others will be available for about 90 minutes beginning at 8:30 p.m. EDT. The program will include live polling on various topics, a discussion on ways to improve horse racing, and a question-and-answer period with the panelist. Jill Byrne of Churchill Downs will moderate.

Participants include Alex Waldrop, president and chief executive officer of the National Thoroughbred Racing Association; Trey Buck, executive director of racing for the American Quarter Horse Association; Jason Wilson, vice president of business development for The Jockey Club; Tom Chuckas, president of the Maryland Jockey Club; Tim Ritvo, chief operating officer of The Stronach Group and president and general manager of Gulfstream Park; Jim Miller, assistant general manager of Hawthorne Race Course; Mandy Minger, vice president of marketing of Daily Racing Form; Amy Zimmerman, Eclipse Award-winning executive producer for HRTV; Jeff Platt, president of the Horseplayers Association of North America; Jennie Rees, Eclipse Award-winning Turf writer for the Louisville Courier-Journal; John DeSantis, senior vice president and editor for Xpressbet.com; Jeremy Clemons, vice president of marketing for TwinSpires.com; and Satish Sanan, Breeders' Cup-winning owner and breeder from Padua Stables.

Night School will be followed by another "After Night School Special," featuring live racing from Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort beginning at 10 p.m. The segment will cover the evening's final race in real time with free live-streaming video and complimentary Daily Racing Form past performances.
