The California Horse Racing Board has filed a complaint against apprentice jockey Eswan Flores, contending he tested positive for cocaine, according to a statement released by the regulatory agency.

The statement said the complaint was filed and a hearing scheduled for Sept. 15 at Fairplex Park after the 19-year-old who has not ridden since Aug. 25 "tested positive for a cocaine metabolite and the subsequent test of the split sample also tested positive."

The North County Times reported that Roger Licht, Flores' attorney, said his client is "adamant" he has never used cocaine.

Flores has ridden 109 winners from 977 mounts, with earnings in excess of $3.6 million.
