The official report on the Dec. 4 Racehorse Medication Summit organized by the American Association of Equine Practitioners could be released Jan. 4. The document is expected to provide information on consensus reached by the more than 30 industry officials who participated.

Sally Baker, director of public relations for the AAEP, said Wednesday the goal was to have the report released by Christmas, but participants have needed more time to review the minutes of the about seven-hour session.

During the summit, held in conjunction with the University of Arizona Symposium on Racing in Tucson, spokesman said they reached consensus on the need for uniformity in medication rules, drug testing, security, and enforcement. The meeting wasn't breed-specific -- Thoroughbred, Standardbred, and Quarter Horse interests participated.
