A group operating in the name Parque Ecuestre La Esmeralda has announced plans to build a new Equestrian center, including a nine-furlong racetrack, near the city of Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico. The land where the group wants to build is currently a 500 acre farm near the Ponce Expressway, according to a release.

The proposed facility would have a turf track inside the dirt oval, a Thoroughbred sales pavilion, a jumping arena, training center, veterinary hospital, hotel, cafeteria, and recreation area. Among the consultants employed by Parque Ecuestre La Esmeralda is Don Drew, former CEO of El Comandante Racetrack.
