During Louisiana Cup Day at Louisiana Downs Aug. 18, the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association awarded two $1,000 scholarships to Demi Varuso and Rachel Petticrew, both of which are students at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
  
"The Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association is pleased to make an investment in the future of our state by investing in the education process," said Roger Heitzmann, secretary/treasurer for the LTBA, in a release.
