Fasig-Tipton has cataloged 375 yearlings for its Eastern fall yearling sale. The number is down 29.9% from last year's total of 535.
The auction will be held Oct. 1 in Timonium, Md. The 2011 sale was a two-day event.
"The Eastern fall yearling sale has a long and successful history," said Paget Bennett, director of sales for Fasig-Tipton's Midlantic division. "With the strength of purses and awards for many of the state-bred programs surrounding us, we have seen marked improvement in the quality of our offerings and increased interest here from end-use buyers and pinhookers. This sale offers racehorses at every budget level which go on to be quality runners throughout North America."
Maggi Moss' So Many Ways, a 2011 graduate of the auction, won the Schuylerville Stakes (gr. III) July 20 at Saratoga Race Course. Jim Schenck, agent, bought the Sightseeing filly for $22,000 from Marshall Silverman, agent for Pennland Farm.
The sale's catalog can be viewed online at Fasig-Tipton's website: www.fasigtipton.com. Print versions are available at all Fasig-Tipton offices.
