Apprentice jockey Nelson Arroyo was taken to North Shore Hospital after falling to the track during the fourth race at Aqueduct Sunday. Arroyo's brother, Norberto Arroyo Jr., was injured in a spill at the New York track last Saturday (Dec. 8).

In Sunday's race, Freedom Onthe Wind clipped heels with Dr. Chinnici around the three-eighths pole and stumbled, throwing Arroyo to the track. The jockey complained of a headache and was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

Dr. Chinnici continued on to finish sixth in the six-furlong maiden special weight race. A stewards' inquiry into the incident resulted in no change in finishing positions.

Freedom onthe Wind appeared to escape injury in the incident.
