Jockey Brian J. Hernandez Jr. earned the 1,000th win of his career when he guided Wildandcrazyguy to victory in the eighth race Aug. 18 at Ellis Park in Kentucky. The 4-year-old Forest Wildcat colt defeated Stormin Hedges by a neck in the 5 1/2-furlong claiming event.
Hernandez, 26, captured the Whitney Invitational Handicap (gr. I) aboard Fort Larned Aug. 4 at Saratoga Race Course. His father, Brian Sr., and younger brother, Colby, are riders in Louisiana.
