Amelia, Fappies Notebook Victorious at Calder

Amelia, winning the Frances A. Genter Stakes.
Amelia beat Sara's Success by a neck Saturday in the $100,000 France A. Genter Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Calder.
Amelia, ridden by Javier Castellano, ran 7 1/2 furlongs on the turf course in 1:28 2/5, and paid $14.60, $6.60 and $3.80 for her fourth victory in 11 starts. Sara's Success returned $9.80 and $4.60, and Ing Ing paid $2.80 to show.
Trained by Shug McGaughey for Helen Alexander, Helen Groves and Dorothy Matz, the 3-year-old Kentucky-bred daughter of Dixieland Band improved to four wins in seven starts on grass.
In the $100,000 Kenny Noe Jr. Handicap, Fappie's Notebook beat Kiss A Native by 1 1/2 lengths.
Fappie's Notebook, ridden by Jorge Chavez, ran 7 furlongs in 1:23 1/5 and paid $4.80, $3 and $2.40 for his fourth victory in his last six starts in stakes races. Kiss A Native returned $3.80 and $2.40, and Dancing Guy paid $2.40 to show.
Owned by his breeders, Irving and Marjorie Cowan, Fappie's Notebook is a 4-year-old son of Notebook bred in Florida. He has won half of his 16 lifetime starts for trainer Emanuel Tortora.
