Phil O'Hara has been named executive director of racetrack development for Daily Racing Form, the company announced Aug. 1.
O'Hara, who has served on the company's board of directors since 2008 and will remain on the board, was hired to lead the DRF strategic racetrack partnership program, which is geared toward increasing pari-mutuel handle and building the fan base.
O'Hara most recently was a principal in Meyocks & O'Hara Racing Enterprises in Nicholasville, Ky. He was president and chief executive officer of Equibase from 2004-07, and from 1985-2000 worked for Penn National Race Course and owner Penn National Gaming Inc.
"I'm excited to become a contributor to DRF's strategic racetrack development efforts," O'Hara said. "Racetracks have seen the benefit of DRF's increased production of high-quality news and event coverage, as well as creation of new handicapping tools across its print and digital platforms, and I believe we've only scratched the surface of what DRF can do to drive handle and new fan growth for our racing partners."
