Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital will host an educational forum on sale yearlings Aug. 16 at the Embassy Suites hotel in Lexington. A similar forum was held in July in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and the second forum was scheduled in Central Kentucky following positive feedback.
During the Kentucky forum, an expert veterinary panel will present radiographic images of joints and endoscopic videos of throats in sale yearlings. The panel, moderated by Dr. Bart Barber and featuring veterinarians from Rood & Riddle, will discuss different types of radiographic and throat abnormalities and their impact on sales and racing with and without surgery. The panel will also review recent changes in the conditions of sale regarding veterinary radiographic reports at public auction and answer questions from the audience.
Members of the panel will be Dr. Larry Bramlage, Dr. Scott Pierce, and Dr. Debbie Spike-Pierce
"There is a significant amount of concern revolving around the changes that sales companies have made to conditions of sales," Barber said. "We feel that it will be beneficial and timely to get together and share our perspective on veterinary reports and discuss some of the radiographic and endoscopic findings that will likely be encountered."
A welcome reception with light hors d’oeuvres will begin at 6:30 p.m. EDT. The panel is scheduled for 7:00-8:30 p.m. Rood & Riddle is asking anyone planning to attend to respond by Aug. 11 to firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling (859) 233-0371.
