First-crop sire McCann's Mojave came through with his first winner July 25. His 2-year-old son Biltmore Boogie won by a neck going five furlongs in :58:92 at Santa Rosa in his initial start as a homebred for trainer Steve Specht.

A California-bred, Biltmore Boogie is the fifth winner from five named foals of racing age from the Ghazi mare Ghazi’s Lass.

A grade II winner who earned more than $1.5 million, McCann’s Mojave (Memo—Join U. Bar, by Nordic Prince) was a winner all seven years he raced and a stakes winner in five of those years. He stands at Rancho San Miguel near San Miguel, Calif. His 2012 fee was $3,000.
