Valid Expectations Colt Tops Fasig-Tipton Texas Sale

A weanling colt by North America's leading first crop sire, Valid Expectations, brought $60,000 to top the Texas Thoroughbred Association's mixed sale that was conducted by Fasig-Tipton on Sunday. Tom Durant purchased the colt from Roger Daly, agent for the complete dispersal of Kellie Creek Farm.

Produced from the stakes-winning Lord Vancouver mare Vany, the sale topper is a half-brother to Miss Running Vany (by Runaway Groom), who captured the My Dear Girl division of the Florida Stallion Stakes in 1989 and the Miss Florida Handicap in 1990.

Fasig-Tipton reported that 143 horses were sold for a gross of $534,300, an average of $3,736, and a median of $2,500. The buy-back rate was 25.5%, with 49 of the 192 horses offered failing to find new homes.
The auction was held at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas.

In February of this year, Fasig-Tipton conducted another Texas Thoroughbred Association mixed sale at Lone Star that generated a gross of $568,100, an average of $4,001, and a median of $2,700 for the 142 horses sold.
