Kentucky Derby (gr. I) winner Monarchos put in a quick four-furlong drill at Gulfstream Park Sunday morning for trainer John Ward Jr.

John C. Oxley's 3-year-old son of Maria's Mon went the distance in :46 3/5 on the fast track. Monarchos earned a bullet for the work, the fastest of 16 at the distance Sunday. Monarchos' stablemate Holiday Thunder was timed in :52 flat for the same distance in what was the slowest four-furlong work of the day at the track.

Monarchos earned three wins in as many races at Gulftream Park last winter, including a 4 1/2-length victory in the Florida Derby (gr. I).
