Jockey Angel Serpa will be back in action at Monmouth Park July 22 after receiving medical clearance to resume riding.

The fifth-leading rider at Monmouth, Serpa suffered a concussion in a spill July 13 when his horse attempted to jump the inner rail and threw the rider to the turf.

“He’s feeling great, he’s ready to ride, and he’s excited to be back. He feels like Angel Serpa again,” said Al Delape, his agent. “He’s raring to get going.”

Serpa, who has 19 wins from 162 mounts so far, is named on five horses on Sunday’s 12-race card. He is slated to ride Rogue in the featured $60,000 Klassy Briefcase Stakes for trainer Tim Hills.
