Went the Day Well Out for the Year
Team Valor International’s Went the Day Well, winner of the Vinery Racing Spiral Stakes (gr. III) and a fast-closing fourth in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I), will not run again this year due to bone bruising in his front ankles, Team Valor president Barry Irwin told Blood-Horse July 17. "Fortunately there are no fractures or chips or spurs, but the deep bone bruising in his front ankles was severe," Irwin said. "It is probably why he ran so poorly in the Preakness (gr. I).
