Java's War became the first winner by deceased 2007 juvenile champion War Pass when he won a maiden special weight race at a mile on turf at Ellis Park July 8 (VIDEO) .

A homebred for Charles Fipke, Java’s War captured the race by 1 3/4 lengths in 1:36.85.

Bred in Kentucky, Java’s War is a half brother to stakes-placed Coffee Bar and is the fourth winner from four starters from the winning Rainbow Quest mare Java.

War Pass (Cherokee RunVue, by Mr. Prospector) won the 2007 Bessemer Trust Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (gr. I) and the Champagne Stakes (gr. I) the year of his championship.

War Pass entered stud at William S. Farish’s Lane’s End Farm near Versailles, Ky., in 2009.  He died in December 2010 after returning from a shuttle season at Widden Stud in Australia.
