Avalon Rose, a 2-year old filly from the first crop by grade I winner Into Mischief , became her sire’s first winner when she rolled to an 8 1/2-length victory in a maiden special weight race at River Downs July 5 (VIDEO).
Despite finishing last at Churchill Downs June 7 in her other start, Avalon Rose went off as the 9-10 favorite at River Downs. She set the pace and won the five-furlong race in :59.98.
Owned and trained by Gerardo Carrillo-Dominguez, Avalon Rose is the second offspring from the Unbridled's Song mare Unsaid, who is out of stakes winner Defining Style. Avalon Rose was bred in Kentucky by B. Wayne Hughes’ Spendthrift Farm and Shawhan Place.
Into Mischief (Harlan's Holiday —Leslie's Lady, by Tricky Creek) won the 2007 CashCall Futurity (gr. I) at Hollywood Park for Hughes. His time is the fastest in the last 17 years.
