Saratoga Purses Up for First Condition Book

Saratoga Race Course has released its first 2012 condition book, and it shows a substantial increase in purses.

Open maiden special weight events will go for $80,000-$85,000, up from $70,000-$75,000 at the current Belmont Park meet. New York-bred maiden allowance races will go for $60,000-$65,000, up from $55,000-$60,000 at Belmont.

Purses for allowance races with conditions are listed at $82,000-$95,000. As previously announced, the minimum purse for most stakes is $100,000.

The minimum claiming price in the first condition book is $20,000. The minimum purse is $36,000.

The Saratoga meet, operated by the New York Racing Association, begins July 20 with racing six days a week. Tuesdays are dark.
