Due to anticipated heat in the region and temperatures expected to reach the mid-to-upper 90’s, Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races has canceled its afternoon card scheduled for July 1.
The June 30 Sprint Festival will get underway as planned at the special event post time of 6 p.m. After that, racing will resume July 5 with a standard 7:15 p.m. post time.
Charles Town Races canceled the final three races of its June 29 night program following a brief but heavy thunderstorm that caused a temporary power loss to the tote board and grandstand. With the storm anticipated to last for an additional 15 minutes, the decision was made prior to the seventh race to cancel the rest of the card.
