Multiple stakes winner Tapajo has the home field advantage as she takes on five rivals in the 1 1/16-mile Iowa Oaks (gr. III) at Prairie Meadows June 30. The daughter of Tapit goes into a race off two added-money scores at the track.
The Iowa Oaks, for 3-year-old fillies, is the seventh race on the Saturday card and is scheduled for 9:07 p.m. (CDT).
Tapajo, who broke her maiden last November at Churchill Downs, smoked the field by 6 1/4 lengths in the one-mile Panthers Stakes June 2 last time out for owner Winchell Thoroughbreds. In her previous outing, she won the Goldfinch Stakes in April. Steve Asmussen trains.
Ice Cream Silence is the other stakes winner in the field. The Street Sense filly, owned by G. Watts Humphrey Jr. and Louise Humphrey, captured the Optimistic Gal Stakes at Churchill May 26 by a widening five lengths last time out for her third consecutive victory. Rusty Arnold is the trainer.
Three of the remaining contestants are stakes-placed this year. B J D Thoroughbreds’ Livi Makenzie, by Macho Uno , ran third in the Beaumont Stakes (gr. II) at Keeneland and later ran second in the Optimistic Gal at Churchill.
Ize in Trouble, owned by Gaylon McGee, finished second in the Island Fashion Stakes and third in the Sunland Park Oaks in consecutive starts. The daughter of Proud Citizen was seventh in the Golden Poppy on turf at Golden Gate Fields in her last outing.
