Fab Flowers became the first winner for freshman sire Lewis Michael June 24 in a maiden claiming race at Arlington Park (VIDEO).
An Illinois-bred filly out of the Dixieland Band mare J. D. Flowers, Fab Flowers is owned by Steve Feiger and bred by F & F Investments. Fab Flowers, trained is trained by Joel Berndt, pulled away near the top of the stretch in the 4 1/2-furlong race and won by 2 3/4 lengths. The final time was :53.93
Lewis Michael, a son of Rahy and out of the Broad Brush mare Justenuffheart, is a full brother to champion juvenile filly Dreaming of Anna and was a regular campaigner at Arlington. Trained by Wayne Catalano, Lewis Michael was a stakes performer from 2 through 5, with his biggest wins coming in the Washington Park Handicap (gr. II) and the Pat O'Brien (gr. II), both of which were track record-setting performances.
Lewis Michael retired sound and went to stud at Three Chimneys Farm at the end of his 5-year-old season. His 2012 stud fee is $3,000.
