Unzip Me

California champion Unzip Me has been retired from racing because of soft tissue issues in her left front leg. The 6-year-old daughter of City Zip   won the Wishing Well Stakes on grass at Santa Anita in January in her final start for owners John C. Harris’ Harris Farms, Per Antonsen, Marty Jones, and Don Valpredo.

Trained by Jones, Unzip Me was California’s champion older female of 2010. A 4-year-old that year she won five stakes including the Las Cienegas Handicap (gr. IIIT), the Senator Ken Maddy Handicap (gr. IIIT), and the Royal North Stakes (Can-IIIT). She ran third against males in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (gr. IIT).

Unzip Me retired with a record of 14-4-4 from 25 starts and earnings of $959,228. Ten of her wins came in stakes.

Bred by Harris Farms and Valpredo, Unzip Me is out of the winning Arazi mare Escape With Me, whose dam, Soviet Problem, is a five-time California champion. Unzip Me will not be bred this year.
