Curlin's First Starter Finishes Third

Two-time Horse of the Year Curlin  , whose first foals are 2-year-olds, was represented by his first starter when his daughter Evolutionary contested a maiden special weight race at Arlington Park June 13.

A homebred for Josephine Abercrombie’s Pin Oak Stable, Evolutionary bobbled at the start of the five-furlong race and was last of seven during the beginning. She rallied to finish third while beaten 12 3/4 lengths (VIDEO).

A Kentucky-bred, Evolutionary is a half sister to four older runners, all of which are winners. Her dam, multiple stakes-placed Gilded Wings (by Gilded Time), is a half sister to two stakes winners.

Curlin (Smart Strike  Sherriff's Deputy, by Deputy Minister) was Horse of the Year at 3 and 4. He stands for $40,000 at William S. Farish’s Lane’s End Farm near Versailles, Ky.
