Erich Zimny, who began working at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races in 2008, has been named vice president of racing operations at the West Virginia facility.
Zimny most recently served as director of racing operations at Charles Town.
“We are glad to recognize Erich for all of his efforts in helping to re-establish Charles Town on the national Thoroughbred racing scene,” said Al Britton, general manager at Charles Town. “He has done a great job in working with his team to establish premier stakes events and improving interest in our racing product, resulting in new records in handle.”
Zimny helped develop the track’s expanded stakes program, including the grade II Charles Town Classic. The 2012 edition of Classic night produced a record handle of more than $3.4 million, a 37% increase from 2011.
Zimny also helped establish the track’s other two big-event racing nights, the Charles Town Sprint Festival and the Race for the Ribbon.
Zimny also will oversee mutuels at Charles Town and be involved in projects aimed at assisting owner Penn National Gaming Inc.’s other pari-mutuel facilities in the areas of product development, marketing, and coordinated racing efforts.
