A lease agreement has been reached to stand Walmac Farm stallion Successful Appeal at Ricardo Benedicto's Haras La Pasion in Argentina for the 2012 Southern Hemisphere breeding season. The 16-year-old stallion will be bred to a limited number of mares.
“We have long been associated with Haras La Pasion through their managing director Nico Benedicto, who worked previously at Walmac,” said Walmac managing director John T.L. Jones III. “Haras La Pasion is the breeder of Successful Appeal’s 2012 group II winner Galan de Cine, runner-up in the group I Gran Premio de Honor. “We are very excited about the interest they have received from breeders for the upcoming season, and they're a leader in Argentina with a great program.”
A four-time grade II winner, Successful Appeal (Valid Appeal—Successful Dancer, by Fortunate Prospect) has sired 38 stakes winners including Kentucky Derby (gr. I) runner-up Closing Argument and 2012 grade II winner Successful Dan.
Successful Appeal, whose career progeny earnings are more than $26 million, stands at Walmac for $15,000.
