Raymond Dweck's Stormy Pick dueled early with the previously unbeaten With Ability before running away to a 1 3/4-length victory over Zonk in the $150,000 Sorority Stakes (gr. III) Saturday at Monmouth Park. Under Jose Ferrer, Stormy Pick completed the six furlongs in 1:10.96 over a sloppy track. 1-2 favorite With Ability finished third, followed by Queen Carson, Astrid, You Be Mine, and Textbook Method.
The win was the first in a stakes race for the 2-year-old daughter of Storm Creek. Previous to the Sorority, she finished second to Queen Carson in the $50,000 Colleen Stakes. Stormy Pick earned $90,000 for the win, her third from four career starts. She was bred in Florida by Mockingbird Farm and is trained by Ben Perkins Jr.
The third choice in the wagering, Stormy Pick paid $10.20 for the win and led an exacta worth $108.40. (Chart, Equibase
