In preparation for a large crowd for the Triple Crown assault by I'll Have Another in the June 9 Belmont Stakes (gr. I), the New York Racing Association for the first time is making grandstand general admission tickets available through Ticketmaster.
The general admission tickets are $10 each.
According to a NYRA release, there is ample non-reserved seating available for grandstand general admission patrons in the grandstand, trackside, and on benches and picnic tables located throughout the backyard area. General admission tickets also provide access to areas populated with flat-screen televisions, betting windows, and food options.
To buy tickets through Ticketmaster, racing fans can visit www.ticketmaster.com (tickets listed as “Belmont Stakes Admission”) or call 800-745-3000. They may also be purchased at select Ticketmaster locations.
On Belmont Stakes day, $20 clubhouse and $10 grandstand general admission tickets will be available at the Belmont Park admission gates, which will open at 8:30 a.m. EDT. First post is 11:35 a.m.
The last time a Triple Crown was on the line was 2008, when 94,476 fans witnessed the failed attempt to sweep the TripleCrown by Big Brown . The record Belmont Stakes crowd was in 2004 when 120,139 people flocked to Belmont to see Birdstone upset Triple Crown hopeful Smarty Jones .
