Locally based Winning Image, owned by Martin Scafidi, asserted herself early and ended up wiring the field in the $150,000 My Juliet Stakes at Parx Racing May 26 (VIDEO).

Ridden by Jose Caraballo for trainer Michael Aro, Winning Image defeated four others in the six-furlong stakes named for the champion sprinter based at Keystone Race Track, one of the previous names of Parx. It was her third stakes score at the Pennsylvania racetrack.

Winning Image, a 5-year-old mare by Southern Image  , broke quickly to take a two-length lead through an opening quarter-mile in :22.15. She maintained a head advantage when pressed by favored Nicole H  through a half-mile in :44.49, but fought off that foe into the stretch.

C C's Pal and Derwin's Star, second and third, respectively, gained ground in the lane but couldn’t collar Winning Image, who won by three-quarters of a length in 1:09.46 on a fast track. Nicole H. faltered to finish fourth, while Aquitania checked in last.

The winner paid $12.20 as the fourth choice in the five-horse field.

Winning Image, bred in Kentucky by Dreamfields Inc. and Don Brady, has seven wins in 15 starts for earnings of $273,005. She has started four times at Parx and has three stakes victories: the My Juliet, Langhorne, and Cornucopia.
