A Sky Mesa filly sped an eighth-mile in :09 4/5, the quickest of the day at the May 11 under-tack preview for the Barretts May sale of 2-year-olds. In addition three colts breezed a furlong in :10 at the Fairplex Park five-eighths oval in Pomona, Calif.
Most of the times ranged in the :10 1/5 to :10 4/5 range as 65 youngsters breezed an eighth at the preview. Consignors also sent out several for a quarter-mile, while two breezed three-eighths.
The sale, to be held May 14 beginning at 6:30 p.m., features a catalog of 116 2-year-olds, with another eight as supplemental entries.
Ciaran Dunne’s Wavertree Stables sent out the Sky Mesa filly, a daughter of stakes winner Bare Dancer. As hip #122, the youngster is among the supplemental entries to the May sale. The Lion Heart colt, hip #51, is a half brother to Willard L. Proctor Memorial Stakes winner Classical Slew. Both came out of the 2011 Keeneland fall yearling sale.
California consignor Andy Havens had the other colt to preview to run in :10 as part of his Havens Bloodstock Agency group. A son of Marino Marini , the colt, hip #60, is a half brother to two-time stakes winner Shining Nuggets.
