Vinery Australia announced May 11 that it has added the brilliant 2010 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (gr. IIT) winner Pluck to its stallion roster for the 2012 breeding season.

A Team Valor International homebred son of More Than Ready  , who also stands at Vinery Australia, Pluck's extraordinary turn of foot was on display in a breathtaking win in the 2010 Juvenile Turf when he rallied from last at Churchill Downs.

Trained by More Than Ready’s conditioner, Todd Pletcher, Pluck was retired with three wins in seven starts and earnings of $727,290. His victories included the Summer Stakes Presented by TVG (Can-IIIT) at Woodbine prior to the Breeders' Cup.

Bred in Kentucky, Pluck is out of stakes winner and multiple group I placed Secret Heart, a South African-bred daughter of successful Sadler’s Wells stallion Fort Wood. The first three dams of Pluck are all stakes winning mares that have produced a total of 23 horses to race for 21 winners, including 11 stakes winners, and three group I winners.

Pluck's career was cut short at 3 by injury and a twisted colon, which required emergency surgery.

“Pluck is a very exciting prospect to have standing here at Vinery. He is a magnificent looking horse with such great depth of pedigree and possessed an extraordinary turn of foot, the most important elements we look for in any potential stallion,” said Vinery’s Peter Orton. “He sustained an injury in his three-year-old year preventing him from racing on which was a great disappointment, especially with the plans the stable had to take him to Europe for the classics.”

Pluck will stand his first season at Vinery in 2012 at a fee of $11,000 including goods and services tax.
