Following the defection of Dullahan from Preakness Stakes (gr. I) consideration, jockey Kent Desormeaux has signed on to ride Tiger Walk, who is owned by Kevin Plank’s Sagamore Farm.
“I think he’ll really fit the horse,” trainer Ignacio Correas said of the Hall of Fame rider who dominated the Maryland circuit in the late 1980s.
Desormeaux has ridden two winners of the Preakness, Real Quiet (1998) and Big Brown (2008).
He finished third aboard Dullahan in thie year's Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I).
Tiger Walk, fourth in the Resorts World Casino New York City Wood Memorial (gr. I) at Aqueduct Racetrack last time out, galloped 1 3/8 miles at the Glyndon, Md. farm on the morning of May 11.
The colt's most recent workout was at Pimlico Race Course May 6 when he breezed five furlongs in 1:02 1/5.
Tiger Walk is winless in three starts this year and will be seeking his first stakes victory in the Preakness. He started the season with a third-place finish in the Withers Stakes (gr. III) before finishing fourth in both the Gotham (gr. III) and the Wood Memorial.
The dark bay son of Tale of the Cat --Majestic Trail, by Kris S., was bred in Kentucky by River Bend Farm. Tiger Walk has won two of seven starts in his career, banking $127,630.
