Last year’s Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) winner Plum Pretty has been confirmed by owner John Fort as a starter in the La Troienne (gr. II) at Churchill Downs May 4, the same day as this year’s Run for the Lilies.

Trained by Bob Baffert, Plum Pretty is campaigned in the name of Fort’s Peachtree Stables, which also has Sacristy in the Oaks and plans to run the undefeated colt Achilles in the American Turf (gr. IIT) under the Twin Spires May 4.

Plum Pretty, a daughter of Medaglia d'Oro  —Liszy, by A.P. Indy, will enter the La Troienne off a comfortable 2 1/4-length victory in the April 13 Apple Blossom Handicap (gr. I) at Oaklawn Park, a race she captured after more than five months off.

Plum Pretty prepared for the La Troienne by working five furlongs in 1:00 1/5 at Santa Anita Park April 27 and was shipped to Churchill the following morning.

“It’s exciting to me and all her fans (that she’s running in the La Troienne),” said Fort. “She’s arguably the best racemare in America."

Plum Pretty owns an overall career record of 5-2-2 from 11 starts, which includes additional victories in the 2011 Cotillion Stakes (gr. II) and Sunland Park Oaks. Bred in Pennsylvania by Silent Indy Stables, she has earned $1,656,700.

Other probable entrants for the La Troienne include last year’s Oaks runner up St. John's River; Apple Blossom second-place finisher Absinthe Minded; and graded stakes-placed runner Afleeting Lady.
