Kayrawan, who stood the majority of his stallion career at Sheikh Hamdan’s Shadwell Farm near Lexington, has been pensioned from stallion duty because of a recent cardiac issue. Twenty-year-old Kayrawan (Mr. Prospector—Muhbubh, by Blushing Groom) stood at Shadwell this year for $1,000.
Kayrawan has sired 52 winners from 94 foals including stakes winner Dubai Sheikh and four stakes-placed runners. His runners have earned more than $2.9 million. Kayrawan also stood at Q6 Ranch in Texas and at Gallagher’s Stud in New York.
Bred and raced by Shadwell Stable, Kayrawan scored his biggest win in the 1996 Tom Fool Handicap (gr. II) at Belmont Park during a career in which he carved out a record of 6-2-0 from 15 starts and earned $186,682.
