The Horse Racing Radio Network announced April 23 it has reached an agreement with all three Triple Crown racetracks to provide the national radio broadcast of the 2012 Triple Crown for the second consecutive year.
HRRN will provide the exclusive broadcasts of both the Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) on Friday, May 4, and the May 5 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I). HRRN will then move on to Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore for the Preakness Stakes (gr. I) on Saturday, May 19, then to New York for the final jewel in the crown, the Belmont Stakes (gr. I) on Saturday, June 9.
In 2011, HRRN was named the exclusive radio partner of the Kentucky Oaks and Derby, and has provided the national broadcast for the Preakness Stakes since 2008 along with the Belmont Stakes four of the past five years.
“The Triple Crown transcends the sport of horse racing as one of the most recognizable events in any sport,” said Mike Penna, president of HRRN. “The privilege of being part of these historic events as a broadcast organization is truly an honor.”
