Atlantic City Race Course will begin the live Thoroughbred racing season in New Jersey April 27 with the usual full fields for its all-turf program.

The southern New Jersey track will race April 27-29 and May 1-3 with primarily six turf races per card. The first two programs attracted full fields of 12 for all races; Atlantic City doesn’t program also-eligible horses.

First post time each day is set for 3:30 p.m. EDT, with about a half-hour between races. Various racetracks and off-track betting parlors are importing the Atlantic City signal.

The condition book shows mostly starter allowance races with various conditions, including some for maidens, along with allowance races and maiden special weight events. There are no claiming races.

Atlantic City is owned by Greenwood Racing, which also owns Parx Racing in neighboring Pennsylvania. Parx will be dark during the Atlantic City meet.

After a week at Atlantic City, New Jersey Thoroughbred racing moves to Meadowlands, which will offer four turf races a day May 4-5, followed by live harness racing at night. Monmouth Park then opens its 2012 meet May 12.
