The Bob Baffert-trained Eden's Moon worked five furlongs in 1:00 flat over a fast track at Santa Anita Park April 22 in preparation for the May 4 Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) at Churchill Downs.
Eden’s Moon, a Florida-bred daughter of Malibu Moon , has made only four career starts thus far, but she has made them count. Owned by Kaleem Shah, the bay filly broke her maiden on her second try by a sensational 11 1/2 lengths at Santa Anita Jan. 8, followed by a 3 1/4-length score in the Las Virgenes (gr. I).
Eden’s Moon, who has earned $228,600, will enter the Oaks off a third-place effort in the March 31 Santa Anita Oaks (gr. I).
The filly was bred by Bridlewood Farm, which consigned her to the 2011 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2-year-olds in training sale, where Baffert purchased her for $390,000 on behalf of Shah.
In addition to Eden’s Moon, Baffert is slated to send out Peachtree Stable’s Mamma Kimbo and Gillian Campbell, R Group Management, and Greenwood Lodge Farm’s Jemima's Pearl in the Oaks.
