Stronach Stable's Preakness Stakes (gr. I) winner Red Bullet worked five furlongs over the Oklahoma training track at Saratoga Thursday morning. The son of Unbridled breezed the distance in 1:00 4/5, the fastest of 12 works at the distance Thursday. He galloped out six furlongs in 1:14.
Red Bullet, who developed a viral infection which forced him to miss last Sunday's Haskell Invitational (gr. I) at Monmouth Park, is training toward a start in the $1-million Travers Stakes (gr. I) at Saratoga Aug. 26. "Obviously, we were disappointed that we had to skip the Haskell but I have plenty of time to get him ready for the Travers," said trainer Joe Orseno.
Meanwhile, Haskell winner Dixie Union, also being prepared for a start in the Travers, was back on the track at Monmouth Park for the first time since the race. "He jogged once around the track," said assistant trainer Steve Willard. "He's looking good and feeling good."
