Asmahan, who is in foal to Magic Albert, brought the top price of Aust$200,000 ($207,262 in U.S. funds) on the second day of the William Inglis & Son Easter broodmare sale in Australia April 18. Offered during the select session by Willow Park Stud, the bay mare was purchased by Colm Santry Bloodstock.
A 10-year-old winning daughter of Zabeel, Asmahan produced a Tale of the Cat filly in 2009 and Saint Thomas fillies in 2010 and 2011. The mare is out of the 2000 Armstrong Jones New Zealand Oaks (NZ-I) winner She’s Country (by Kenfair) and is a half sister to 2010 New Zealand group III winner She Rules (by Commands).
The day two results included a gross of Aust$3,354,200 ($3,475,990) for the 149 horses that were sold. The average price was Aust$22,511 ($23,328) and the median price was Aust$16,000 ($16,581). The clearance rate was 71.6%.
