Top-Rated Frankel Cleared to Resume Training
Juddmonte Farm’s Frankel, the top rated horse in the world, has been cleared to resume training after an ultrasound scan April 18 did not reveal any tendon damage. “I was always hopeful there would be no lasting damage even though there was quite a lot of fluid and blood inside the (tendon) sheath," Sir Henry Cecil, the colt's trainer, said at Newmarket April 18. "The scan was obviously important because it may prove you wrong, but the scan this morning was 100% on both the sheath and the tendon. "He has missed two bits of work but he has done plenty of walking and trotting over the last five days. We will feel our way. I would love to get him to Newbury (for the JLT Lockinge Stakes May 15). I don’t fancy going to Royal Ascot in June, on a stiff course against seasoned horses, without a run beforehand. I’m hoping he might still be all right for Newbury.”
