A daughter of Henny Hughes posted the fastest time for an eighth of a mile during the first session of the under tack show for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co.'s spring sale of 2-year-olds in training. The filly worked the distance in :9 4/5 over the OBS track’s synthetic Safetrack surface April 17 in Central Florida.
Consigned by Best A Luck Farm, agent, and cataloged as Hip No. 233, the bay juvenile is the second foal out of the winning Cape Town mare Cape Discovery. Other family members include grade II winners Unbridled Energy and Heart of Joy (who also was a group III winner in England) along with grade III winners Inexplicable, Midnight Cry, and White Mischief.
Best A Luck purchased the Henny Hughes filly for $30,000 from Brandywine Farm, agent, at the 2011 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October yearling sale.
Three 2-year-olds were the quickest workers at a quarter mile, each turning in a time of :20 3/5. They included a Put It Back–Wabash Gal filly (Hip No. 28) and a Cowtown Cat–Classy Daniela filly (Hip No. 278), both consigned by Blue River Bloodstock, agent. The other was a Ready's Image –Bound to Blush filly, consigned by Hoppel’s Horse and Cattle Co., agent, as Hip No. 201.
A Halo's Image– Windjammin Lady colt named My Jealous turned in the fastest three-furlong work, posting a time of :33 1/5. Blue River Bloodstock, agent, is the consignor of the bay juvenile, which is Hip No. 64 in the OBS spring auction’s catalog.
The under tack show will run through April 20, with each session beginning at 8 a.m. (EDT). The sale is scheduled for April 23-26, with each session starting at 10:30 a.m.
